Bernadette Peters

 

Bernadette Peters (nee Lazzara, born February 28 1948) is an American performer, actress and children's book writer. Over her six-decade career, she has appeared on television, film and musical theatre. She has also performed in solo concerts and recorded. The critically well-known Broadway performer she has been awarded seven Tony Awards nominations, winning two (plus an honorary award) and nine Drama Desk Award nominations. She won three. Four of her Broadway album of cast on which she has starred have been awarded Grammy Awards.



 



 Peters is widely recognized as the most famous interpreter of the works by Stephen Sondheim. Her roles on Broadway include Mack and Mabel (1974), Sunday in the Park with George (84), Song and Dance (1985), Into the Woods with George (87) and The Goodbye Girl(93), Annie Get Your Gun 1999), Gypsy (2003), A Little Night Music (2009), Follies (2011) and Hello, Dolly (2018).
